I
started keeping discus over 30 years ago and have collected them
in the wild in Brazil and Ecuador, where I found an introduced
hybrid population. While looking for wild discus I met such
grand old men as Rafael Wandurraga, Mike Tsalikis, Renato Takasa
and Willi Schwartz, all of whom are virtually unknown by modern
discus keepers. The first fish that I bred were wild caught
individuals, which were later paired to young I acquired from
Jack Wattley, who delivered them to my home. Over the years I
have bred all of the wild forms and most of the domesticated
varieties. My attitude to keeping discus is simple: treat them
as any other fish and disturb them as little as possible,
allowing nature to act.
